Drove straight into block with no pre-drill

I was skeptical, but these hardened masonry nails drove right into CMU block with just a 3 lb hammer. The fluted shank channels material aside rather than splitting it. Used them to fasten a ledger board for shelving in my shop.

    Work well in poured concrete

Fastened pressure-treated bottom plates to a poured concrete floor. You do need a solid masonry hammer and a straight, firm strike — glancing blows will deflect them. But when you hit them right, they grip like they're welded in.

    Excellent for attaching furring strips

I'm furring out a concrete block wall to insulate a garage. These nails hold the strips tight against the block — no movement at all. Way faster than drilling and using anchors for non-structural strips.

    Good holding power in brick

Used these to hang some lightweight fixtures on an exposed brick wall. They held securely after driving into the mortar joints. I'd suggest the mortar joints over the brick face itself — less chance of cracking the brick.

    Snapped on harder concrete

These work fine in soft block and old mortar, but I was trying to fasten into a hard poured slab and snapped two nails trying. The hardening is adequate for the softer masonry they're designed for, but don't expect them to work on high-PSI structural concrete — that's what powder-actuated tools are for.
